The NATURA 2000 Oroklini Lake is a natural marshy lake, which has also been classified under the Habitats Directive as a SCI due to its halophytic marsh vegetation. The lake is nestled in the heart of the island, 10 Km from Larnaka city and considered as haven for bird enthusiasts and one of the top sites across Cyprus for breeding Black-winged Stilts and Spur-winged Lapwings. It provides a habitat for more than 180 bird species, including the popular flamingo. It also draws waders, gulls and ducks. Oroklini Lake is one of the seven hydrobiotopes of Cyprus, a peaceful escape and a must-visit for nature lovers.
